Today we started talking about Rome. In the 9th century, Etruscans, Greek, and Latin's moved into Italy. Indo-European tribes moved into the Italian peninsula and some settled along the Tiber river, which created the city-state known as Rome. Etruscans were originally from the east. The settled in the north od Italy and were an early influence on the Romans. The Roman Republic had a senate of the people. At first, Rome was a monarchy on the Etruscan model with a council of elders called the "senate". in 500 B.C., the Romans overthrew their monarchy and established a "Republic". Since the senate was populated only by patricians (Aristocratic men) the Plebeians (ordinary citizens) fought for a vote in Rome's government, and each year, the senate would elect 2 rulers, who would rule for one year. After we took our note, We got a phone, and it was a "guest for Mr. Schick. It was Chi cago, who rapped for us and told us all about Rome.
